Carpet Trade - the leading player

Brintons Office complex
Brinton’s expansion through the nineteenth century led to the firm becoming the pre-eminent carpet manufacturer in the town and through the twentieth century to be a significant player in a global market. The entirety of the area in the town centre between the river and the canal was in the company’s occupation.
These first stage of these offices were constructed in 1876 and they were extended in 1926. They were listed n 1996.
In due course the site became too constrained to accommodate the demands of carpet weaving as newer technologies were introduced and more modern manufacturing facilities were built both on the outskirts of Kidderminster and elsewhere. The business continued under family control until very recently.
The historic town centre manufacturing site was redeveloped for retail use. in the early 200ss
