Baxter Church

Richard Baxter’s presence in Kidderminster meant that the town was one of the birthplaces of the non conformist religious tradition in England and that fact is reflected in a number of buildings of note. The Baxter URC Church in the Bull Ring is the fourth church to sit on the site. Built in 1884-85 to the design of FW Taring it was listed in 1978. Immediately behind it, the Sunday School is also a listed building.

New Meeting House

Close by is the New Meeting House which was the place of worship of a congregation who separated from the original community which flowed in a tradition founded by one of Richard Baxter’s associates. New Meeting House was designed by Payne and Talbot c 1882 and was listed in 1980. It contains Richard Baxter’s pulpit.
